Count the total number of sigma bonds and pi bonds in the compound below
Count the number of sigma and pi bonds

In order for us to determine the number of sigma and pi bonds, we need to know that a single bond has one sigma bond. A double bond has one sigma and one pi bond. A triple bond has one sigma and two pi bonds.

The molecule above has one double bond and one triple bond. Therefore, there should be 1+2= 3 pi bonds. There are also 16 sigma bonds since there are 14 single, 1 double and 1 triple bond.
